Spam Tastes Nasty

The board's been getting hit with spammers a bit lately. I'm working on locking it down a bit tighter, there are some more measures I can take to hinder some of the bots, like textual confirmation, making people answer stuff like what's 2+5 when registering. Whenever I see spam I go delete it and ban the user. From what I've been reading, phpBB can actually be pretty difficult to protect from spam, so if anyone has any killer tips , let me know.

I'm about halfway through a mod that should make it less common for spammer to register and post on the site, but I"m not sure if I just ended up totally hosing the registration process. If you try to register and cannot, please email me.
